1 WORD. 2 LETTERS: NO.

Have you ever struggled with something so long that it almost feels like it’s almost become a part of your identity? That was me.

I was literally asking myself “Why am I still dealing with this?”, “Am I not healed?”, “Do I still need deliverance?” When the truth is, sometimes WE have to be the ones to decide that we will NOT be controlled by our sinful nature. We have to be the ones to say no.

Even after being saved, admittedly so, there were still things that I was struggling with having not acknowledged that I am a new creation in Christ. Praise be to God that you are too! I was down and out until I ran across this verse. Flip with me if you will to Romans 8:7-9.

It reads:

For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will” (Romans 8:7)

That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. (Romans 8:8)

But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit of God living in you (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all). (Romans 8:9)” (Emphasis added)

💨Skrtttt…READ THAT AGAIN.

But you are not controlled by your sinful nature.” !!!!!!!!

That means that whatever we have struggled with in the past, present,  no matter the stain, we are not controlled by our sinful nature. We don’t have to heed to those old habitual, sinful ways. No matter how overwhelming that feeling, or whatever it is, may seem, according to scripture, we are controlled by the Spirit of God!

Whatever we struggle with, just know that we are not controlled by our sinful nature! No matter how overwhelming that feeling may seem, according to scripture, we are controlled by the Spirit of God!

Affirmation:I am NOT controlled by my sinful nature, but by the Spirit of the living God.

Let’s be real. We know that the fight between the spirit and the flesh is VERY real. Galatians 5:17 even says so:

Galatians 5:17 ESV

“For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”

BUT we have the power to make that resolve. It’s crazy that it’s just that simple! I won’t speak for you all, but I know that I often overcomplicate things that needn’t not to be so difficult. A woman of God recently told me: “Just make the resolve”, and I encourage you to do the same. Resolve to be led of the Spirit. Resolve to do the things you need to do to make it into heaven; for we know that “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) . Resolve to not be overcome by your sinful nature, rather controlled by the Spirit of God living inside of you.

We got this! I love you!

Go in peace🕊️
