Jezebel

If you ever went to church, then you may have heard about the jezebel spirit. I can guarantee that your knowledge of the jezebel spirit is wrong. Church people often associate this spirit with whoredom, and somehow believe that only women can be a jezebel.

Who is Jezebel?

Jezebel was a wicked woman, who was the wife of King Ahab. 1 Kings 21:25 AMP states, “There certainly was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him.” She encouraged her husband to serve false gods, including Baal.

7 Jezebel his wife said to him “Do you now reign over Israel? Get up, eat food, and let your heart rejoice; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite”. 8 So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal, and sent them to the elders and nobles who lived with Naboth in his city. 9 Now in the letters she wrote, “Proclaim a fast and seat Naboth at the head of the people; 10 and seat two worthless and unprincipled men opposite him, saying, ‘You cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.” (1 Kings 21:7-10 AMP)

What is a Jezebel spirit?

The Jezebel spirit is a take over/ controlling spirit that does not recognize authority. This spirit will lie, manipulate, and kill in order to spread its agenda. The things that characterized Jezebel are the very things the Lord hates.

16 These six things the Lord hates; Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him: 17 A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that creates wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, 19 a false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths], and one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.” (Proverbs 6:16-19 AMP)

Any man or woman can be governed by this spirit. I warn you brothers and sisters, if you have a problem with submitting to authority, you manipulate people to get your way, or have an issue with correction, please note that you have a pride issue. Go before the Lord and allow Him to deal with your pride. 

As believers, it’s important that we diagnose spirits correctly when we engage in spiritual warfare. If this spirit is not rooted out, it has the ability to dismantle ministries and destroy the body of Christ.
