Tomorrow

One of my favorite gospel songs is “Tomorrow” by The Winans. The song starts off saying,

“Jesus said here I stand/Won’t you please let me in/And you said I will tomorrow//Jesus said I am He/ Who supplies all your needs/And you said I know but tomorrow/Ooh, tomorrow.”

The chorus goes on to say:

“// I’ll give my life tomorrow/ I thought about today/But it’s so much easier to say// Tomorrow, who promised you tomorrow/ Better choose the Lord today/ For tomorrow very well might be today./

The song’s bridge ministers to me and I hope it does for you. The bridges goes as follows:

“//And who said tomorrow will ever come for you/ Still you laugh and play and continue on to say/ Tomorrow, forget about tomorrow/ Won’t you give your life today, oh please//Don’t just turn and walk away/ Tomorrow, tomorrow is not promised/ Don’t let this moment slip away, ooh/ Your tomorrow could very well be here today.” (The Winans).

This song is about a person who constantly puts off their salvation. Jesus is knocking at their heart, asking to be let in and yet the person refuses Jesus' offer by putting it off for tomorrow. The speaker urges the person to take their salvation seriously and not wait until tomorrow to do so. If they do, it might be too late.

Beloved, if you are not saved, I urge you to truly get to know the Father. Revelation 3:20 states, “ 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20 NIV). The Lord longs to be in fellowship with you and get to know you on a deeper level. He wants you to come to the knowledge of truth (1 Timothy 2:4). In order to do so, you first need to acknowledge that you are a sinner who is in need of saving. You must also sincerely repent for your sins.

I will leave you with this scripture from Ecclesiastes 12:

1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”--2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; 3 when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grown dim; 4 when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; 5 when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is started. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets. 6 Remember him–before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, 7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.  (Ecclesiates 12:1-7 NIV).

Before you leave this earth, I urge you to have an intimate relationship with your heavenly Father. Do not wait until you're older; do not wait until tomorrow. Start now while you have the chance. When the dust returns to the ground it came, you will not get another chance.

Prayer: Lord, I come to you now with a sincere heart. Lord you said that You are close to all who call on You, and to all who call on you in truth. Lord, I come to you humbly as a sinner who is in need of saving. Lord, your word says if I declare with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead, I will be saved. I [your name], declare with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that You, Lord, raised Him from the dead. Lord, I thank you for my salvation and I ask that you help me to maintain my salvation. In Jesus name, Amen.
