A Secret Place
Psalm 27:5-6 Amplified Bible
5 For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter;
In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;
He will lift me up on a rock.
6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
In His tent I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
I sat in my room with my Bible open, reading the book of Psalms and spending time with my Father. While reading Psalm 27, the word tent stood out to me. In the Old Testament, the tabernacle is often referred to as a tent of meeting, signifying that God was with you (Exodus 40:1-3 AMP). Verse 6 further supports this by illustrating that sacrifices are being made in this tent: sacrifices for atonement, sacrifices for thanksgiving, and more. The tabernacle in the old testament represented the presence of God given that He dwelled in that place.
When you apply this to verse 5 it will read:
“In the secret place of His presence, He will hide me…”
“Why is the Lord’s presence a secret place?”, I weighed and pondered in my heart.
It is a realm of communion with our Father where one will experience a deep spiritual encounter and inevitably be transformed. It is a private, intimate place that is not to be made common. It is accessed by those who truly seek the Lord with their whole heart; It is accessed by a deep relationship with our Creator.
Psalm 139:14-15 Amplified Bible
14 I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was being formed in secret,
And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.
From the secret place of His presence we originated and from the secret place of His presence we are newly formed and advanced.
