False Doctrines

3.For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

Doctrine can be defined as a teaching or set of principles or beliefs. By understanding the definition of doctrine, we then know that the bible is filled with instruction, teaching, and principles. Yet, as 2 Timothy 4:3-4 states, there are people who refuse to follow God’s instruction, but instead will follow false teachers that suit their own desires. There have been many instances where I have seen Instagram reels and Youtube shorts of false teachers. These content creators are always misinterpreting and blatantly changing the word of God in order to fit their lifestyle. I want to take the time to debunk some of these false doctrines.

Lie 1: Hell isn’t real

Believe it or not, there are actual people that teach hell is not real. They even go as far to say hell is metaphorical and God will not send people to hell. These statements are far from the truth. If hell isn’t real, then why is it mentioned more in the bible than heaven? Hell is mentioned more, because there are more people who go to hell than heaven. Read the following scriptures Isaiah 5:14, and Matthew 7:13-14. God created hell for Satan and his demon’s, not for mankind (Matthew 25:41). However, people choose hell, because they allow themselves to be deceived by the devil. Hell is very much eternal and not a jail sentence where you serve a number of years and you get out (Revelation 14:11, Mark 9:47-48, and 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). Once you are in hell you are in there for eternity. The fire does not stop, the torture does not stop, it goes on and on.

Lie 2: Homosexuality is not a sin

I have seen quite a few content creators spread this false doctrine online, and read comments of people supporting this lie. Homosexuality is an abomination because it goes against God’s command to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28). A man with a man cannot reproduce, just as a woman with a woman cannot reproduce. Homosexuality will lead to spiritual death, also known as hell (Revelation 21:8 and Romans 6:23). Sin is sin, God will not and does not tolerate sin (Psalms 5:4). Therefore, you cannot engage in this lifestyle and think that you will inherit the kingdom of God.

Lie 3:You can worship God and other things too

You cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24, and see our previous devotional about idolatry). You cannot serve God and have crystals, chase after the world, or serve false gods. You have to choose, you cannot have your cake and eat it too. You might ask, what is wrong with having crystals? If you believe that God is faithful, a protector, and is able to give us everything we need ( 1 Corinthians 1:9, Psalms 46:1, and Philippians 4:19), then there is no need for you to have crystals. Having crystals is a sign that you do not trust the God you claim that you serve. God is all that we need and God is the only one that can fill the empty void.

There are many false doctrines in the world, however the ones that are listed, I have frequently come across on social media. By no means do I have the authority to place people in heaven or hell. I have to do the work to make it in just like everyone else. However, I do know that by surrounding yourself with people who tell you what you want to hear, or refuse to show you the truth, will not help you in the long run. For example, it’s like cheating off of your classmate’s homework and you get an “A”. However, when it is time to take the big test at the end of the year, you fail big time. You realize you should have studied and actually taken the time to do the homework. Surrounding yourself with people who encourage you to live in sin may feel great for the moment, but when you stand before God, you are not going to feel so good. You are going to realize you should have not played with your salvation, and  you should have taken the time to properly know God’s word. Life is not a game, after this life is over it is a wrap. We do not have three lives we can use to come back until we get things right.

If you have a platform of any kind and are using it to misinform souls, I urge you to repent and sin no more. Manipulating God’s word is a dangerous thing you can do (Revelation 22:18-19). Satan is a deceiver (John 8:44 and 2 Corinthians 11:14), therefore do not allow the adversary to use you in order to deceive other people. Lastly, we all will have to give an account (Romans 14:12), and you will be held accountable for leading people astray.

If you struggle with engaging in false doctrines or have taught false doctrines, say this prayer of repentance.

Heavenly Father I ask that you forgive my sins of teaching and engaging in false teaching. I ask that you forgive me for manipulating your word to fit my personal agenda, and for leading others down the path of deception.  LORD according to Mathew 18:18, you said whatsoever be bound on earth should be bound in heaven, and whatsoever be loosed on earth should be loosed in heaven. I bind the spirit of deception and the spirit of false error. I loose the spirit of wisdom and revelation in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
