Firmly Planted

1 "Happy are those who don’t listen to the wicked, who don’t go where sinners go, who don’t do what evil people do. 2 They love the Lord’s teachings, and they think about those teachings day and night. 3 They are strong, like a tree planted by a river. The tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves don’t die. Everything they do will succeed." (Psalms 1:1-3, NCV)

Psalms 1:1-3 describes those who are saved as trees. If you think about trees, you will notice that it takes a great deal of force to uproot one. This is because the roots of a tree are very strong, anchoring it firmly in place. In the same way, this is what it is like for a true believer.

We are not easily swayed by foolish doctrine, nor do we have one foot in the world and the other in the kingdom. We count it all joy when we experience trials and tribulations because these challenges build our faith—our roots grow stronger in the Lord (James 1:2-4). We remain ready in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2-5).

Those who are in the world  never have to question who we are, and whose we are, because we bear the fruit of the Spirit. Lastly, because we delight in the Lord, He continues to bless us and provide everything we need to complete the work He has called us to do.

I encourage you, brothers and sisters, to stay firmly planted in the Lord, never turning to the right or the left.
