For His Glory

There is a song that goes: For Your glory, I will do anything. So I ask you, for His Glory, will you do anything?

John 9:1-3 says,

1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

Jesus had to explain to the disciples that man was blind from birth not because of sin, but because The Lord wanted to be revealed through Him. Picture that. The Lord wants to be revealed through us. Now, your thing may not be blindness, but whatever the situation is: The Lord wants to get the Glory out of it.

See King David had this concept down pat.

But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lord, for the sake of your reputation! – Psalm 109:21 (NLT)

Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. Psalm 111:3 (NLT)

When David was in the midst of trials, he called on The Lord to save him, but catch this: He didn’t just want relief, He wanted people to see God. He understood that whatever he went through, considering that he was walking with The Lord, was to bring about glory to His (The Lord’s) name. How did King David get here you might ask.

14 For the love of Christ controls and compels us, because we have concluded this, that One died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that all those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for their sake. – 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. – 1 Peter 4:1-2

King David’s understanding came from the fact that he no longer lived for himself. He lived for God. Are you living for yourself and what your flesh wants? Are you living for the lusts of man? Or are you living for Christ, who died and was raised for your sake?

2 Corinthians 5:20 says, So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we [as Christ’s representatives] plead with you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God.

Understand this: The Lord wants to make His appeal, that is to reach the hearts of mankind THROUGH YOU. Granted, we know this is nothing to get a big head about because it’s His appeal, so He has to be the one to do the work, which He will.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, – 2 Corinthians 3:5

Scriptures say there is wisdom to winning souls (Proverbs 11:30) so when you are seeking to be an effective ambassador of Christ, living for His glory, you should start there.

Psalm 111:10 tells us how to get wisdom:

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;

A good understanding has all those who do His commandments.

His praise endures forever. (NKJV)

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.

Praise him forever! (NLT)

To get wisdom, we have to start by revering The Lord. To revere The Lord is to hold Him in high regard, to respect Him, to admire Him. How you think of The Lord is directly connected to if you will obey Him. It is through obedience that you can grow in the way to be wise. The preceding verse (v.9) tells us what revelation we need to get to fear The Lord.

He has sent redemption to His people;

He has commanded His covenant forever:

Holy and awesome is His name. (NKJV)

He has paid a full ransom for his people.

He has guaranteed his covenant with them forever.

What a holy, awe-inspiring name he has! (NLT)

The Lord paid YOUR ransom, in full, through Jesus Christ and gave you a new covenant that is GUARANTEED FOREVER. This covenant is the one Jeremiah prophesied about in Jeremiah 31:31-34:

31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Once you have a revelation of salvation, you will be equipped to submit yourself to Christ and be His true ambassador, bringing Glory to His name. Remember through Christ you are given the gift of reconciliation through repentance. Submit your flesh before The Lord so you can live for Christ and partake in His gift of salvation! (2 Corinthians 3:14-16)
